The geometric sculptures of James Hewes began with his interest in Buckminster Fuller and geodesic domes. His architectural drafting experience and reading blueprints for new commercial construction gave James a unique perspective that he continues to use today in his contemporary sculpture installation practice.
In 1982, James became fascinated with repeating geometric patterns used in decorating early Islamic architecture. The Tamarack Talisman sculpture installation evolved from a pattern he used for a stained glass window. In looking at the window, he realized the pattern could be developed in three dimensions. This realization launched an investigation that has continued for over twenty years and still continues today!
James - a sculptor and installation artist practicing his art in Potomac, Montana, looks forward to receiving enquiries about his sculpture installations, as well as requests for site-specific installations.
